A letter from Sjaak Govaarts

Mij Suid-Afrikaans is na 46 jaar nie meer so baie goed nie, dus ek skrijf in Engels.

I am Sjaak Govaarts, born 19th December 1957 in the Netherlands and our family emigrated to Sasolburg South Africa in September 1967 where mij father worked for SASOL as a principal chemical engineer.

I matriculated Sasolburg High School in December 1974 and that is also the month we returned to the Netherlands. In 1975 i started my Medicine Study at the University of Nijmegen and are still working as a doctor assessing disability of employees. Planning to retire at the end of next year.

I am married and sadly we have no children, but that is since many years not an issue anymore. We have been to South-Africa on an organized holiday twice (2013 and 2014). Since these vacations the need to get in contact with “old friends” is growing stronger every year, hence this message.

Hoofseun 1974 was Jan Steyn, hoofdogter 1974 Sandra vd Bergh. Other friends are Rodney Dry, Ursula Wessels, Peiter Louw, Trixie vd Merwe, Ada Lamprecht, Nicolene Maas, Michael Dreyer, Sanmarie Potgieter, Eugene Gill, Peter, Paul and Mark Hill, Hennie Wiggett, Francien Heymann, Esmé vd Merwe, Aletta de Beer, Conrad Wiehahn, Paul Stewart, Francois Reyneke and many more….

I would very much like to get in contact so that perhaps we can organize a reunion sometime in Sasolburg.
